Several months ago, Viacheslav “Slava” Makovich launched the first Russian business model competition –St. Petersburg StartUp Cup, which quickly became a powerful event within the local startup community.
“A year ago, I was actively looking for the instruments to grow and nurture local entrepreneurial ecosystem development,” says Viacheslav. “I evaluated several opportunities and saw that StartUp Cup showed great efficiency. After having a great conversation with Sean and Kristen, I had no doubt that it would be a success in Russia”.
Viacheslav thinks that entrepreneurship means not only doing business, but having active, conscious lives and the realization of personal goals in different spheres independent of available resources.
His first business project was VM Consult , providing marketing support of foreign companies entering the Russian market. He was then involved in different commercial and noncommercial projects in mechanical engineering, consulting, energy and other fields.
Viacheslav is a speaker on large Russian forums and the author of book “Build your name,” which has already become a bestseller in a top Russian online bookstore. His next big venture with StartUp Cup is as Associate – Russia where he plans to oversee 8-10 StartUp Cups throughout Russia in 2014.
