StartUp Cup is an international grassroots, locally driven, business model competition open to anyone with any type of business idea.  The first phase of coaching will begin May 8. Winners will be announced during the 2012 Global Entrepreneurship Week. To date, fourteen communities from around the world are launching StartUp Cups in 2012.

“This is a great opportunity for Paraguay’s entrepreneurial community. StartUp Cup fills an often overlooked need among entrepreneurs, long-term support,” said Roberto Urbieta, Director of Entrepreneurial Education Foundation Paraguay. “Most important, it is a proven model to grow an entrepreneurial ecosystem and comes with the added value of being able to connect with entrepreneurial StartUp Cup organizers from around the globe.”

StartUp Cup organizers are supported by StartUp Cup, a US-based organization, which guides and supports aspiring entrepreneurs, emerging companies and small business through the dynamic process of Business Model Design Thinking.

“We are very excited about Paraguay joining the GriffinWorx effort,” said Sean Griffin, CEO of GriffinWorx. “Communities are challenged to support a diverse entrepreneurial climate. There are a number of short-term programs but until now, nothing provided the long-term support needed and truly develops a business and business owner over the long haul.”

Entrepreneurs who participate in the Paraguay StartUp Cup Business Model Competition will develop a viable business model during a seven-month coaching and mentoring process.
