The past year has been one of exciting growth for the StartUp Cup family.  Our organization has grown from a handful of business model competitions (or “accelerators without walls”) to more than 60 StartUp Cups in 45+ countries around the world, and our team has expanded from a few dedicated individuals to a network of virtual teams spread across the globe.

As 2014, the pace is not slowing: StartUp Cup is poised to literally change the world through entrepreneurship in the coming years.

In the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region, more than two dozen StartUp Cups are in active planning stages, representing more than a third of our competitions led by local organizers.  One of our most essential tasks is to provide engaged, highly-focused service and support to each of our organizers in the multi-month execution of their local StartUp Cup.  As such, we have debuted a new model for managing our activities and organizers based on assigning a dedicated team member with expertise, an existing network of connections in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and deep understanding of cultural nuances and intricacies.

Dalia_HeadshotWe are delighted that our long-time Cairo-based MENA region associate, Dalia Al-Said, has been elevated to the role of liaison and community manager for the Middle East and Africa and enthusiastically congratulate her on this expanded role in one of our most critical areas of growth and focus.  Please join us in congratulating Dalia on her expanded role and ongoing commitment to entrepreneurship, and watch for additional information on her experience and capabilities in our December e-newsletter.
